Talaq in a Half-Asleep State
Question
If a person, while sitting or lying down, is half asleep and half awake, and words of talaq come out of his mouth, does anything result from this or not? What is the ruling if they come out just like that? And what is the ruling if they come out with reference to himself or to his wife?
Answer
When, in a half-asleep state, words of talaq come out involuntarily, without understanding their meaning, talaq does not take effect thereby.
