The Reality of Renewing the Religion

What is the meaning of renewing the religion (tajdid al-din) or renewing the injunctions of the Sacred Law?

Answer

What is meant is bringing to light those injunctions of the Sacred Law which, with the passage of ages, had fallen into disuse because of negligence, the dominance of desire and caprice, and the endeavours of the [carnal] self and Iblis — drawing attention to them and clothing them in practical form [once more].
