Selling a taxi permit and partnership in it
Question
A person named (A) holds a taxi permit in Bombay. The car on this permit had grown old, and in its place a letter of permission has been received from the government to acquire a new car. Since this permission is limited, once its term expires there is no possibility of obtaining it again. If a new car is bought from the company by virtue of this permission, it costs eighteen thousand five hundred rupees. I am not able to buy this car, so I wish to enter into a shareholding partnership with a person named (B)
Answer
(1) If (A) borrows 18,500 rupees from “B” and buys the car from the company, and then repays it from the car’s income, the debt will be cleared; after that he may enter into partnership — in such a way that, for example, he takes half the price from “B,” the car becomes jointly owned by both, and the income too is half and half — half for “B” — and thus a partnership with him…
