Is prayer also prohibited at midnight?
Question
At midday (nisf al-nahar), that is, at the time of zawal, prayer is prohibited. Is it the same at night too — that exactly at midnight it is the time of zawal, so that prayer is prohibited at that time as well?
Answer
There are three times at which praying is prohibited: first, when the sun is rising; second, when the sun is directly overhead; third, when the sun is setting. Prayer is not prohibited in any part of the night, whether it is twelve o’clock or more or less.
