One travelling with the intention of a fifteen-day stay shortens the prayer on the way
Question
If a man travels, the ruling about him is that he shortens the prayer on the way. So will he shorten in every case, or at a specific time — such that only the one who travels with the intention of fifteen days shortens? But this is an agreed-upon issue. The question is this: if someone sets out with the intention of fifteen days or more, will he shorten on the way or not?
Answer
Whoever travels intending the distance of three stages — 48 miles — will shorten the prayer on the way. But if he intends to stop on the way for fifteen days or more before the 48, he does not shorten on the way: he is not a legal traveller.
