Reciting al-Hamd aloud in the third rak‘a

Question

An imam, standing in the third rak‘a, recited al-Hamd aloud; after reciting two or three verses the imam remembered and fell silent. What needs to be clarified is whether sajda al-sahw (the prostration of forgetfulness) will be wajib or not.

Answer

If he recited three verses aloud, sajda al-sahw will be necessary (lazim).
