Leading tarawih by one who has not memorised the Qur’an
Question
A hafiz was reciting the Qur’an in a village [in tarawih], and in a single rak‘a he would make mistakes at least five times. Some people appointed another hafiz. Is this action of theirs correct?
Answer
One who has not memorised the Qur’an should not be made imam for tarawih; the one who has memorised it should be made imam. If a mistake happens somewhere by chance, there is no harm in that.
