Adjusting the waist-cloth or trousers during prayer
Question
Here most religious scholars, when leading the prayer, lift their waist-cloth or trousers with both hands as they go down into sajda, and in the sitting (qa‘da) position they straighten their kurta (a long loose shirt) or shirt with both hands, which during the prayer gets slightly bunched up this way and that. They do this act, and this act occurs in every rak‘a. Was the prayer valid in this state or not?
Answer
The prayer will be discharged even in this way, but these things are contrary to the dignity (waqar) of the prayer. The point is that whoever has khushu‘ (humble devotion) in his heart, its effect shows on his body as well.
