Is the retraction of a haemorrhoid a sign of passing wind?
Question
Because of haemorrhoids, during the prayer one feels as if the pile has risen upwards; an opening of the anus (mabraz) is unavoidable. During the rising and descending, heat is also felt in the anus; it cannot be said that wind has come out. Often, as soon as the anus becomes warm, the soles of the feet immediately become warm too. Should this be regarded as the emission of wind, or is it the heat of the area itself? (What is the sign of wind generated during the prayer: is there heat in it or not?) (1)
Answer
(1) If after relieving oneself the piles are dried so that no water remains, and then they retract, the fast does not become invalid (fasid); otherwise, because water goes inside with them, the fast becomes invalid. Their coming out does not invalidate the fast. The prayer does not become invalid if they retract by themselves.
