The individual worshipper saying the takbirs aloud

Question

If a person performs a fard or nafl prayer at night as a munfarid, he has been given the choice between audible and silent recitation. Does he also have a choice in the remaining recitations of the prayer, such as “sami'a-Llahu li-man hamidah”, “Allahu akbar” and the like, or not? Please explain the answer with evidence.

Answer

[ar]ويسن جهر الإمام بالتكبير والتسميع لحاجته إلى الإعلام بالشروع والانتقال، ولا حاجة للمنفرد كالمأموم[/ar] “It is sunna for the imam to say the takbir and the tasmi' aloud, because of his need to announce the beginning and the transitions; the munfarid, like the muqtadi, has no such need” (“Maraqi al-Falah” with “al-Tahtawi”, p. 152).
