The imamate of one who said, “What if someone strangles me?”

Question

An imam was told, “There are two rooms; keep the mosque’s belongings in one of them.” He replies, “If someone comes and strangles me to death, who will be responsible for that?” He has set aside Allah’s responsibility and demands a human being’s responsibility. What sort of person is he, whether an imam or an ordinary Muslim, and what is the ruling concerning him?

Answer

This is a matter of arrangement and precaution, not a setting aside of Allah’s responsibility. Note of the edition: on account of saying this, no harm has come to his imamate.
