An Imam Who Has Resigned Is Not Entitled to a Salary Until Re-employment Is Agreed
Question
On the 6th (?) of Muharram, a little before Jumu'a, an imam wrote the following written undertaking, left it in the mosque and went to his village: “I do not wish to live in this settlement where idol-worship takes place; therefore, pay the somewhat more than four hundred rupees of my salary that are due.” This money had accumulated because many people were displeased with him.
Answer
If he had ended his employment and left, then until the matter of his employment is settled anew he will not be entitled to a salary. The prayers performed behind him are valid.
