Who should lead the witr in Ramadan?

Question

The regular imam of our mosque is a graduate of Dar al-Ulum Deoband. After he leads the fard of ‘isha’, the tarawih is led by the hafiz who has been engaged to lead the tarawih in blessed Ramadan. Who is entitled to lead the witr congregation — the regular imam or the hafiz?

Answer

The imam who led the fard of ‘isha’ should also lead the witr; but if the one who leads the tarawih leads the witr, that too is correct — there is no karaha (dislike) [in it]. They should not dispute over this.
