The imamate of a lame man and a person with baras
Question
Are the lame man (a'raj) and the person with baras (abras) included in the list of those whose leading the prayer is makruh? If they are included, what are the details? And does this karaha (dislike) apply [only] when someone more knowledgeable of the sunna is present as an alternative to him, or unconditionally?
Answer
The person with baras is also mentioned in "al-Durr al-Mukhtar". In "Shami" it says: [ar]قيد البرص بالشيوع ليكون ظاهرًا، وكذلك أعرج يقوم ببعض قدمه فالاقتداء بغيره أولى. تاترخانية[/ar] "He restricted baras to its being widespread, so that it is visible. Likewise a lame man who stands on part of his foot: following someone else is preferable" ("al-Tatarkhaniyya").
