The Imamate of One Who Recites the Qur’an for a Fee
Question
Is prayer permissible behind a man who recites the Qur’an at the grave of a deceased person, or not?
Answer
Reciting the Qur’an at a grave for a fee is impermissible. If this imam does so and, despite knowing the ruling, does not repent, then appointing him imam is makruh, provided that another person more qualified for the imamate than him is present.
