The imamate of one who abandons the congregation

Is the imamate of one who abandons the congregation valid according to the Sacred Law for the Friday prayer (jumu‘a) and the two ‘Id prayers, or not?

Answer

Appointing as imam one who is in the habit of abandoning the congregation without an excuse is makruh tahrimi. A prayer performed behind him out of necessity, however, does not have to be repeated (i‘ada).
