The Place of a Minor in the Row

Question

What do the scholars of the religion and the muftis of the firm Shari‘a say regarding the following question: if a single minor comes to a congregational prayer, should he pray standing in the row of the adults, or behind the row of the adults? If he stands in the row of the adults, should he stand on the right or on the left, and should he stand adjoining the adults or apart from them? If he stands adjoining the adults, then in that case, when other worshippers come, on which side of this minor should they stand?

Answer

If there are several minors, the imam should form them into a separate row and place them behind the adults; and every adult who comes after that should stand in the adults’ row, and a minor in the minors’ row. But if there is a single minor, he should stand in the adults’ row: in that case the minor takes the ruling of the adults.
