Joining the ankles (ilsaq al-ka'bayn) in prayer
Question
Should one join ankle to ankle in prayer or not? Is there a prohibition of this in the hadith and fiqh, or is there evidence for it?
Answer
'Allama al-Shurunbulali has stated explicitly in Maraqi al-Falah that one should keep a gap of four fingers between the two feet. From this it is known that ankle will not be joined to ankle. Moreover, praying with ankle joined to ankle is very difficult, and the qa'da (sitting) is not even possible in that state.
