Posture while standing (qiyām) in prayer
Question
Should a person stand fully upright in qiyām or slightly bend the head forward? If bending is required, how much? A scholar, referring to Mawlānā Gangohī, claims that one should lean forward so that the head extends eight finger-widths beyond the line of the feet, bending from the waist. Is this correct?
Answer
The reference must be provided: in which book did Mawlānā Gangohī write this? His exact wording should be cited; only then can the matter be examined.
