Giving the adhan in a child’s ear several days later

Question

In some countries there is a law that after birth the child is placed in a glass box, and the child is handed over after a week or ten days; during these days the mother too stays in hospital — she can see the child but cannot touch it. In this situation, is there any harm if the adhan is given after a week or ten days? And in which ear are the adhan and iqama [given]?

Answer

In case of necessity, once he has been brought home, the adhan should be given in his right ear and the takbir (iqama) in his left ear.
