Which Nights Are the Best [for Night Vigil]

Question

How many nights are mentioned in the hadith as having merit for spending the night in worship? Is the Night of Miʼraj included among them?

Answer

The nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, especially Laylat al-Qadr; the nights of both ‘Ids (Fitr and Adha); the nights of the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijja; the night of the middle of Sha‘ban — however, on these nights a congregational [gathering] should not be arranged in the mosque.
