An Unborn Child Speaks — Is He the Mahdi?

Question

(1) In Indonesia there is a pregnant woman whose term has already been completed, yet the birth has still not taken place; moreover, the unborn child (janin) has announced that it will be born next year, on the day of Hajj, on the plain of ‘Arafat. Secondly, the child speaks from within [the womb], and only its mother understands its speech, no one else. Thirdly, the one relating this states that in future its speech will be understood by other persons besides the mother as well.

Answer

(1) This is not something established by the Sacred Law such that its confirmation would be obligatory. If the woman relating it (mukhbira) is trustworthy (thiqa) and the preponderant likelihood (zann ghalib) inclines toward accepting [her report] as true, then there is no difficulty in affirming it.
