The Words of the Du‘a for Barakah

Question

Question: in Mishkat al-Masabih, in the Chapter on Miracles (Bab al-Mu‘jizat), there is a hadith — it is the tenth hadith. Among the words of this very hadith occurs the following: [ar]فَبَصَقَ فِيهِ وَبَارَكَ ثُمَّ عَمَّدَهُ... إِلَى آخِرِهِ[/ar] “…and he [the Prophet ﷺ] spat into it and made du‘a for barakah (blessing), then…” — and so on to the end [of the hadith]. The matter to be asked is this: in this portion the word “وبارك” (“and he blessed”) occurs, that is, you [the Prophet ﷺ] made du‘a for barakah.

Answer

That du‘a was: “O Allah, bless this little food, so that it becomes sufficient for everyone.”
