Investigation of the Hadith “If Musa and ‘Isa Were Alive”
Question
Here a debate took place between a certain Qadiani religious scholar and a Christian priest, which came to rest on the words “law kana Musa wa ‘Isa hayya” (“Had Musa and ‘Isa been alive…”). The Qadiani religious scholar undertook to show these words from books of hadith, and it was settled that, if he did so, the priest would give fifty rupees to the Congregational Mosque.
Answer
(1) “Al-Zarqani” is a commentary on “al-Mawahib al-Laduniyya”. It belongs to the field of noble hadith. (2) In “al-Yawaqit wa’l-Jawahir” the difficult passages of Shaykh Akbar’s [Ibn ‘Arabi’s] “al-Futuhat al-Makkiyya” are explained. Compiling hadith narrations is not its concern; rather, it sets out topics of ‘ilm al-asrar (the science of [hidden] secrets)
