Is Surah al-Fatiha a Surah of the Noble Qur’an?

Is Surah al-Fatiha a surah of the Noble Qur'an or not? If it is, then of which juz' is it a surah? Also, is there any deficiency in the prayer if one recites only Surah al-Fatiha? Also, please write in detail the occasion of revelation and so on.

Answer

Surah al-Fatiha (al-Hamd al-Sharif) is, without any doubt, a surah of the Book of Allah, the Noble Qur'an. In Mushaf 'Uthmani, Surah al-Fatiha comes first; after it comes Surah al-Baqara. For the ease of teaching children, the surahs in Juz' 'Amm have been written out of [canonical] order. Reciting Surah al-Fatiha in prayer (for the imam and for one praying alone)
