Marrying Off a Daughter in Exchange for Land
Question
A person acquired land in this way: he had a daughter, he married her off and took land in exchange. Now this person has grandsons and great-grandsons. What is the ruling on this land for them?
Answer
This land takes the ruling of a bribe (rishwa). Returning it is necessary (lazim). They should not themselves collect its income; rather, they should return it to the one to whom it belonged, or to his heirs.
