The Two-Panel Cap and the Turban at the Time of Nikah
Question
When the groom’s wedding procession sets out, a two-panel cap and a turban are invariably put on the head, and if someone omits them, people reproach him, calling him one who abandons the sunna. Is there any proof for the turban at the time of qabul (acceptance)?
Answer
The turban and the two-panel cap are a commendable attire, but declaring it a distinct sunna of the nikah is not correct. Just as this attire is commendable at other times or during prayer, so it is at the time of the nikah as well.
