A Nikah Performed with Wrong Customs

Question

At Zayd’s nikah he was dressed in the wedding outfit and henna was applied to his hands. Is his nikah valid or not?

Answer

Applying henna to the young man’s hands at the time of the nikah and performing other wrong customs is impermissible, but the nikah will be concluded even in this state, and there will also be sin for the wrong acts. It is necessary to perform the nikah in the manner of the sunna.
