Forgiving the mahr and then denying the forgiveness
Question
A wife forgave her mahr, but there was no proof, witness or the like. Now that the wife has been divorced, she has filed a claim for the mahr in court. How is this for the wife?
Answer
If the wife forgave it willingly, then the mahr has been forgiven in the sight of Allah, and it is now not permissible for her to deny the forgiveness. If she denies it and collects it, this will be an injustice (zulm).
