Nikah with a Non-Muslim

Question

A non-Muslim man had contracted nikah with a Muslim woman and had changed his name to ‘Abd al-Rahman. This woman has no children, and one day she came to me and said: “Marry your daughter to my husband.” Trusting this woman, I married my daughter to this man. After investigation it became clear that he is a non-Muslim. The girl stayed with him only 2 days, after which she did not go there again. Now this man has been missing for four years; even after searching, nothing could be found out about where he is.

Answer

If the girl saw disbelief and polytheism there — for example, that prostration was made to an idol — then according to the Shari‘a this nikah never took place at all. You made a grave mistake in throwing your daughter into such a place without investigation.
