Nikah Between a Muslim and a Non-Muslim
Question
Is the marriage of a disbeliever’s daughter and a Muslim’s son valid or not? And if their nikah took place before they became Muslims, will their first nikah suffice after they accept Islam or not?
Answer
If both the young man and the young woman are Muslims, their nikah is valid. If one is a Muslim and the other a disbeliever, their nikah is not permissible. If their nikah took place in a state of disbelief before they accepted Islam, and then both became Muslims, that same first nikah of theirs will suffice.
