Another Girl’s Name Was Mentioned in Place of the Wife: The Nikah Did Not Take Place
Question
My engagement took place in the customary way, and then on the appointed date the wedding procession went. Our father-in-law, the respected Tufayl Ahmad, has two daughters. The elder daughter, named Rukhsana Khatun, who is close to puberty, is the one to whom my marriage was settled. The name of the other, younger daughter is Imrana. At the time of the nikah the officiant did not take permission from the guardian (wali), nor was any agent (wakil)
Answer
Your engagement was settled with Rukhsana Khatun, but offer and acceptance between her and you were not carried out; therefore her nikah with you did not take place. If she came to you after the bride’s send-off, she came wrongly. Stay apart from her until offer and acceptance take place before at least two (2)
