Offer and Acceptance by a Minor with the Guardian’s Permission

Question

When the boy and the girl are minors, can the guardian (wali) perform the offer and acceptance or not? Or can they themselves perform the offer and acceptance or not, given that they know what the benefits of nikah are?

Answer

It is valid both for the guardian to perform the offer and acceptance on behalf of the minor boy and girl, and for the minor to perform the offer and acceptance with the guardian’s permission. So it is in “al-Shami”, vol. 2, p. 314.
