Feeding people after the istisqa' prayer

Question

In connection with the rain the following happened: having collected contributions from several people, they prepared (?) food and fed all the children of the village, and after that, at eleven o'clock in the day, they fed the elderly. What is this?

Answer

Giving sadaqa to the poor is mustahabb, and even then it is better (afdal) to do it as secretly as possible; making a display of one's grandeur and pomp in it is displeasing to Allah Most Pure.
