Delivering the khutba in another mosque after having prayed Jumu'a

Question

A person prays Jumu'a in one mosque, and it happens that in another mosque there is no khatib present. If this person, who has already performed the Jumu'a prayer in the first mosque, delivers the khutba in the second mosque and another person leads the prayer — or if in some mosque at the Jumu'a prayer one man delivers the khutba and another man leads the prayer — are these situations blameworthy or not?

Answer

A large group of the jurists hold that the khatib must be qualified for leading the prayer (imama). Therefore, for a person who has already prayed Jumu'a in some mosque, delivering the khutba in another mosque will not be correct according to this group. Likewise, it is inappropriate for the imam to be someone other than the khatib.
