Burying a copy of the Qur’an with the deceased
Question
In Khurja a woman passed away, and a [copy of the] Holy Qur’an was buried in her grave, while the respected Mawlana was also present.
Answer
Burying the Holy Qur’an with a woman upon her death is not a ruling of the Shari‘a; it is a wrong practice. If it was placed on top of her, then with the bursting of the body there will be disrespect [to it], which is by no means permitted. If a scholar is present at such a time, he should censure (nakir) it; if for some consideration (maslaha)
