Isal al-thawab for minor children

Question

What is the ruling on completing a khatm of the Qur’an and performing isal al-thawab (gifting reward) on the death of minor, sinless children, when they are sinless and unacquainted with sin?

Answer

Children are sinless. There is no need of isal al-thawab on their behalf for obtaining forgiveness of sins; but if du‘a is made for the attainment of favours, that is fine, as is done in the funeral prayer (salat al-janaza).
