Women going to visit the awliya

Question

Is it permissible or impermissible for women to go to visit (ziyara) the noble awliya? And if a janaza is brought on Friday, then after praying the Friday prayer, should one first pray the funeral prayer (salat al-janaza) or perform the sunna prayers?

Answer

Looking at a non-mahram is prohibited, whether it be the noble awliya or anyone else; and going to their shrines gives rise to much harm (mafasid), therefore they (women) are forbidden from it. First the funeral prayer, then the sunnas; and if one does the reverse, there is leeway for that as well.
