What colour the cloth of the shroud should be

Question

What is the ruling on placing the deceased in red cloth because it is the emblem (shi‘ar) of a party? Whose emblem is the red flag? What is the ruling on shouting “Hail!” to the red flag?

Answer

For the shroud white cloth is mustahabb and commendable. The shroud of the Prophet ﷺ was indeed white, and he ﷺ also encouraged a white shroud and emphatically enjoined it: [ar]وكفن ﷺ في ثلاثة أثواب بيض سحولية[/ar] “He ﷺ was shrouded in three white Suhuli garments” (Maraqi al-Falah, p. 475).
