Calling a Hindu a Kafir

Question

(1) Is there a right to call a Hindu a kafir or not? (2) If a Muslim renounces Islam, is there a right to call him a kafir or not?

Answer

(1) If calling a Hindu a kafir hurts him, do not hurt him without cause. Is a blind man always addressed as “blind”? (2) A Muslim who abandons Islam and adopts kufr (al-‘iyadhu billah) is an apostate; he is worse than a pig.
