Saying “We Shall Provide the Sustenance”
Question
Qari Fakhr al-Din said to a man, “We shall provide the sustenance.” Is it permissible and correct to say so according to the Sacred Law?
Answer
If Qari Fakhr al-Din is alive, the meaning should be asked of him himself; it may be that his explanation removes the difficulty. In reality the Provider of sustenance is Allah Most High; the Arabs, however, say figuratively: [ar]رَزَقَ الْأَمِيرُ الْجُنْدَ[/ar] — “the commander gave the army its rizq”, that is, distributed [their pay].
