Calling Someone Who Does Not Know “Ignorant”

Question

Question: Is it an offence to say truthfully to someone who does not know the Shari‘a: “You do not have knowledge of the Shari‘a”?

Answer

If a person who knows the Shari‘a tells someone unacquainted with it: “You do not have knowledge of the Shari‘a”, this is correct and is not an offence. Just as a lawyer versed in the law may tell someone unacquainted with it: “You do not have knowledge of the law” — this statement is correct and is not an offence.
