Collecting salary unpaid for lack of funds once funds become available
Question
Question: Zayd, having been engaged by all the people of the village, began teaching in a madrasa run on aid for an agreed sum of six rupees a month, and for about three years regularly carried out the duties of his post. During this time he also received his salary; because of lack of money the salary of several months was often paid at once, but the account was always settled in full, and Zayd too kept to his work.
Answer
Since Zayd took up the post having been engaged by all the people of the village, the employment did not end merely because one person who was not a responsible party said: “I am not responsible for your salary; as for the villagers — they may pay or not pay.
