Students’ present to their teacher

Question: The students eat food from the village, but there is more food than they need; they gave it to their teacher’s house. Is it permissible for the teacher to eat the food or not?

Answer

The students have given this food to their teacher as a present (hadiyya); it is valid for the teacher to eat it.
