Giving property to a daughter’s son while there are daughters
Question
Question: There is a man who has become extremely weak. He has five daughters who, having been married, live in their own homes. His daughter’s son looks after this man. In such a situation, may he register a field and a house in the name of his daughter’s son or not?
Answer
If the intention is not to harm the daughters, but he truly wishes to give it to his daughter’s son by way of compensation, as a due for his service (haqq al-khidma), then giving in proportion to the service is permissible.
