Where the Black Stone Came From

Question

Please give a brief definition of the Black Stone: where did the stone that is set in the wall of the Multazam (the part of the Kaaba’s wall between the Black Stone and its door) of the Kaaba come from?

Answer

It came from Paradise together with Adam ﵇. When it came it was extremely bright; the sins of the children of Adam turned it black. This is set out in detail in “Akhbar Makka”, in the commentaries on the hadith — “Fath al-Bari” and others — and in the books of tafsir.
