A Government Employee Performing Hajj While on Official Duty Abroad
Question
Zayd is a pharmacist’s assistant in a government hospital. This year the Government of India is sending him to Saudi Arabia as an employee for four months. During this period, besides his salary, he will also receive other facilities from the government, such as travel expenses and the like. During the Hajj season he will be staying in Saudi Arabia. In this situation, if he performs the obligatory Hajj, will the fard be lifted from him, or, if he becomes one who has the means (istita‘a)
Answer
Even if he performs Hajj with the expenses provided by the government, the obligatory Hajj will be discharged, and thereafter, on his coming to have the means (istita‘a), Hajj will not become fard upon him a second time.
