Harbouring rancour against a Muslim

Question

One Muslim, for some reason, harbours rancour in his heart against another Muslim, while outwardly he mixes with him. How is such a person regarded by the Shari‘a?

Answer

Harbouring rancour against a Muslim without a Shar‘i reason is a sin, however great a sinner he may be. At the same time, to be pleased with the sinfulness (fisq) of any fasiq is also not permissible; rather, one should regard his sinfulness as bad and oneself strive for his reform: admonish him with the tongue and pray for him with the heart.
