Allegiance (muwalat) and mutual support (muwasat) with a kafir
Question
A certain Hindu has friendly relations with a Muslim: at the time of a wedding they give each other money for cooking food and for food, and they invite each other to meals. Is it permissible to take and give money in this way and to eat and drink, or not?
Answer
Friendly ties and heartfelt love with kafirs are haram, by the words of the Exalted: [ar]يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا…[/ar] “O you who believe, do not take those who have taken your religion as mockery and play…” (the verse) (Surah al-Ma’ida, 5:57).
