Does a wife have the right to complain against her husband?
Question
A man gives to his wife and children whatever Allah Most High gives him, and eats nothing apart from them. Rather, he himself wears and eats coarse, simple things and dresses his wife and children better than himself. Out of three months he spends at least 25 days away from home. Coming home, he says to his wife: “In my presence live according to my wishes; in my absence spend your time as you wish.
Answer
The wife has no right to give such an answer. The Shariʿa has directed thrift and has made the man the one in charge (qawwam).
